Since there are many symptoms of leg blood clot, at times they can easily be brushed aside, especially if they are associated with other body conditions. While some symptoms of this condition are very common, others are less common.

It is therefore advisable for you to be on the lookout especially if you happen to discover some of the symptoms of blood clots outlined in this article.

Early symptoms of leg blood clot

Severe pain in the area where blood has clotted is one of the obvious symptoms of a leg blood clot, also known as deep vein thrombosis. If the clot is left without being attended to, it can result in it growing larger and larger.

It is therefore important to ensure that a medical evaluation is sought as soon as possible so as to avoid any deep vein thrombosis and symptoms of DVT.

In addition to pain in legs, other DVT symptoms include sudden cramps, especially in the leg muscles. You should also watch for numbness in leg, pain in calf and tingling in legs.

These cramps may become severe with time especially if the clotting has occurred in a deep vein. This in turn may make it difficult for the affected person to carry out some daily functions.

For instance, if you are fond of doing prolonged activities, there may come a time when this might be hard for you due to the cramps.

One way of identifying leg blood clot symptoms is by checking for a warm feeling around the area where the clotting has occurred. If you touch the area around the blood clot on the leg, you may feel some warmth.

If left untreated, the region where the blood clot is present may cause the skin to become red. The skin may in turn become lumpy with time resulting in adverse life threatening complications.

Swelling around the area is one of the symptoms of leg blood clot that is very noticeable. The swelling may with time increase causing it to appear like a big bulge. If you are used to standing for a long period of time, the swelling may increase.

Similarly, if you are used to the same sitting position, this may also make the swelling increase. It is therefore important to take the necessary precautions once you notice this symptom.

Feeling physically weak is another symptom of this condition. This may cause the affected person to be unable to walk even for short distances. This might be as a result of blood flow cut off to the muscle leading to the blood clot. If the muscle happens to be permanently damaged, you may experience long-term complications or even loss of stamina.

Lastly, if you have symptoms of this condition in your leg you may suffer from fever, inflammation and even edema of the region close to the clot. This is mostly brought about if the clotting has some infections.

You will likely need to take some pain relievers and antibiotics in order to keep the infection at bay.

Hope this information will help you to recognize symptoms of leg blood clot on early stages.
